Feasibility Studies
NanoBioNet supports members with a fund for feasibility studies.

Applicants based in Saarland

Members of NanoBioNet can submit applications for feasibility studies directly to the association. Here we are addressing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) initiating and realising innovative pilot projects in the fields of nano-, bio-, or nanobiotechnology.

The maximum amount of the grant is EUR 25,000.

For further information please download the guidelines in PDF format or contact our office directly. We regret, but the guidelines are available in German only.

Applicants based in Germany

In the first quarter of 2007 the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) granted funding for the project "Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Nanotechnologie-Kompetenzzentren in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" – abbr: AGeNT-D – ("Consortium of Nanotechnology Centres of Excellence in Germany"). This project aims to bring together nine centres, including NanoBioNet.

NanoBioNet members are offered the possibility through this project to apply for feasibility studies via NanoBioNet. This applies to all members based in Germany.

The following basic requirements must be met in addition to the customary BMBF regulations:

1. The applicant must be a member of NanoBioNet.
2. The theme must be related to nanotechnology.
3. The study must be completed within 6 months of funding being granted.
4. 50% of the funds must be self-financed and can be co-financed by the AGeNT-D to a maximum of EUR 25,000.
5. Appraisal/Expert Opinion:
NanoBioNet appoints a group of experts to review the submitted application. The experts decide whether the application should be approved, revised, or rejected. If it is approved, the feasibility study is forwarded to the coordinator (Prof. Bimberg) in Berlin for authorisation by the consortium board. If voted for by the board, the VDI-TZ (Association of German Engineers – Technology Centre) is requested to release the frozen funds. The VDI-TZ has the final decision concerning the release of the funds.
6. The project will run from 2007 to 2010 and the AGeNT-D will have annually EUR 300,000 at its disposal.

The Allgemeine Nebenbestimmung für Zuwendungen zur Projektförderung - ANBest-P (General Auxiliary Conditions for Grants and the Promotion of Projects) (as of April 2006) and Besondere Nebenbestimmungen des BMBF für Zuwendungen zur Projektförderung auf Ausgabenbasis - BNBest-BMBF (Special Auxiliary Terms and Conditions for Funds provided by the BMBF for the Promotion of Projects on an Expenditure Basis) (as of April 2006) apply and will be made available if you are interested in applying for a grant.
