NanoSchoolBox - an experimental kit for a journey across the nano-world
We asked ourselves how we could generate enthusiasm in pupils for one of the most fascinating high technologies of our times. Our answer: By sending them on a journey through the nano world – and that’s why we packed our cases.

The NanoSchoolBox contains the tools and materials required for 14 experi-ments and five demo objects, a CD-ROM with accompanying material and safety data sheets as well as a 68-page brochure with descriptions of the experiments and background information.

Some experiments can be conducted as a demonstration by the teacher in the chemistry, biology or physics class while others can be performed by the pupils themselves.

This will enable them to answer, amongst others, the following questions:
-What is the lotus effect?
-Why is it that some textiles do not get wet or dirty?
-Is there any paper that does not burn?
-How does a solar cell work?
-How do you make furniture surfaces scratch-resistant?
-Can metals memorise their shape?
-How do gold particles work in a pregnancy test?

The experiments can either be demonstrated by teachers or conducted by the pupils themselves in physics, biology or chemistry lessons.
The case is a further development of the NanoToolBox, the first European experiment set on nanotechnology, which, as far back as 2004, aroused a lively interest and met with positive reactions all round from both teachers and pupils.
